We offer two distinct movement options for players: An innovative new motion controller-based free-movement system, with a balance of comfort and usability. We call this "reins", because it is similar to directing a horse when you ride. Here's a summary:XING: The Land Beyond is an atmospheric first-person puzzle adventure for both desktop and VR. You are a soul escaping the world of the living and travelling the lands of the dead. The first thing you will notice when you launch this game is that the game is very beautiful. The flat screen video might not justify it well enough, as it is gorgeous in VR. We didn’t even set our graphics in the highest settings, because our CPU couldn’t handle both recording and the high settings at the same time (we use an i7 + 1070). But if you put everything on high, it is definitely beautiful.The game has soothing ambiance too, which makes it very relaxing to launch the game and be totally immersed in a fantasy world. The nice sound design definitely adds to this and we love it.At first the puzzles seemed quite easy and linear, but thankfully they become harder over time. Especially when you find out that you can only use certain items by day and others by night. It takes some time exploring everything and finding out what you have to do, but definitely worth it.Something that we did encounter in VR was that texts were blurry in VR. Mostly happened in the menus, making them hard to read. On desktop everything was good. In VR everything feels great. You get free locomotion, snap turning and smooth rotation which definitely helps. Especially if you have a smaller space. Free locomotion was also very comfortable.It seems like the game has a good length as well as we have been playing for almost an hour and we could see that we were only halfway of the first door. In the beginning we could see that there are 4 doors if I remember it correctly, which could indicate that there is enough content. However we haven’t been able to finish this game yet, so our opinion might change after progressing more. We think this game is amazing. It is definitely something for people who like puzzles and more casual, relaxing games that you can dive into for hours. If you are looking for action though, this might not be something for you. TLDR; Beautiful polished game with a casual relaxing feel. Recommended for anyone who loves puzzling in VR.. Waited 4.5 years for this?! Fails as enjoyable or challenging.. Highly recommended! If you just like to wonder through a beautiful virtual world forgetting all the trouble in the world, this is a game for you. Graphics are beautiful and puzzles are intuitive and smart. It gave you plenty of time for game play for the money and the story was well told. At the end of the game, it was almost sad to leave the place.. Love this puzzle game. The graphics are outstanding. It is a fun, relaxing game.. Have over 100hrs on this game. Must give it a british saying of the game "Bloody Brillant!. Makes me want to vomit after about ten seconds. Seriously, why would anyone make a VR game that has zero accomodation for players who get VR sick.[This review was written based on a previous version of Xing: The Land Beyond which did not include FOV restriction. I no longer own the game so can't review it in its current state]. Just finished up a non-VR playthrough, and am VERY pleased with this game! So, a review:XING is a Myst-like exploration/puzzle game with various worlds which have controllable environments. Some items move, can be picked up/thrown, or interact with other puzzle-type pieces, Goals of each level are to advance through puzzle areas and reach an end-gate. Xing has a fantastic learning curve, and if you've read reviews which say the puzzles are too simple, you're most likely reading a review from someone who didn't do ALL of them. The hardest ones here aren't crazy mind-benders like some of the difficult Talos Project Gehenna ones, but they do get larger and more intricate as the game progresses.The (non-VR) game looks amazing, and can be set pretty high on graphical qualities. (Surprise achievement during setup!) Weather environments/effects are fantastic. Audio is also top-notch, which is how I say "The background music was very good, not annoying."I did get stuck in a pit once, and saw through a tear in a wall or two, but encountered no other issues with the game. Movement was slightly 'off' from an FPS-type game, as the walking was a bit too slow and the running was also slower than I would have preferred. Maybe this is something which is common in VR games?
